Localisations - general information
Translating the ChromaChecker project into foreign languages is a complex issue. The process is multi-threaded and requires work in various areas. As introducing any foreign language is a time-consuming task, it is worth adopting the sequence of actions that gives the greatest effectiveness. In other words, the idea is to first adjust the tools used by employees with the lowest level of knowledge and potential knowledge of English.
Areas in which there is a need to introduce language versions:
1. Application software, mainly dedicated to operators
- CC Capture
- CC Uploader
- CC Connect
In the case of CC Capture software, there are several components:
- The base interface of the application (with the installer) - This is a part of the code used to support measuring instruments and peripheral devices connected to the application - a printer, a barcode reader, an RHT probe, an RFID reader, or other planned devices.
- Reporting interface - created by the CC server.
- Additional content in the form of pdf files, training videos, or SOP.
Each of these elements is a separate issue and requires the use of different tools. In this section, only the part defined as the base interface is understood as software translation.
2. Instructional videos
The videos are provided for ChromaChecker via the Vimeo platform. CC is constantly improving the integration with Vimeo.
It was assumed that the films are made in English with subtitles available in foreign language versions. Only in very justified circumstances will the platform accept a purely foreign language version.
Subtitles files created in .VTT format is to meet several technical requirements described in a separate manual.
